Dust Suppression Roads – Hydrogel
Hydrogel is a concentrated polymer additive that is dispensed straight from the IBC that it is supplied in, into the already water filled water cart via the pre-dosage programmed DSR P pump at the water fill point.
Hydrogel rapidly mixes with the water in the water cart, producing thicker water. The mixture is then applied to the haul road as per normal watering practise.
What Does The Product Do
The active polymers work by retaining water. This means that once applied to the road surface, evaporation time significantly increases, keeping the road wetter for longer and with much less applied water.
What Does The Product Achieve
By keeping the road wet for longer, using less water, the product has he following benefits:
Water Savings: Effective dust suppression with approximately 50% less water
Diesel Savings and Increased Water Cart Utilisation: Application of the Hydrogel mixture lasts up to two times longer than “water only” applications allowing Water Carts to be utilised in other areas. This results in diesel savings by reducing the re-wetting of the same area of road as frequently.
Increased Distance to Empty by up to 1.5X: When using an optimised Spray Valve in combination with Hydrogel, the water output of the Water Cart can reduce to approximately 300ml/m2, significantly increasing the distance to empty while achieving effective dust suppression.
