What we supply for road maintenance

Municipal RFQs describe the same materials in many ways. Each card names the product we quote, the words RFQs use for it and how it is supplied, and links to its full page with the specification. Together they cover the bituminous products supply and bitumen related products that roads RFQs list.

Repairs and potholes

• Cold mix asphalt

  Quote this: Cold mix asphalt (bagged and bulk)

  Ready to use from the bag, with no heating, in 25 kg bags or bulk. RFQs ask for “supply and delivery of cold premix”, “pothole patching material” or “road patching material”.

• Tack coat from SS60

  Quote this: Tack coat (bond coat) emulsion for asphalt overlays

  SS60 diluted with water on site, as a bond coat under patches and asphalt overlays. RFQs ask for “tack coat (SS60)”, “bond coat” or “30% emulsion”.

• Hot mix asphalt

  Quote this: Hot mix asphalt (supplied, or supplied, laid and compacted)

  Continuously graded, dense graded and modified mixes, supplied, or supplied, laid and compacted. RFQs ask for “hot premix asphalt” or “asphalt surfacing”.

• Crack sealant

  Quote this: Hot-applied crack sealant (polymer-modified, C-E1) and Cold-applied crack sealant (polymer-modified emulsion, CC-E1)

  Hot-applied polymer-modified crack sealant in 25 L drums, and a cold-applied emulsion crack sealant for fine cracks. RFQs ask for “crack sealing” or “crack seal”.

Bitumen emulsions, primes and sprays

• SS60 bitumen emulsion

  Quote this: SS60 anionic stable grade bitumen emulsion (60%)

  Anionic stable grade, conforming to SANS 4001-BT3, in sealed 200 L drums, 1,000 L flowbins or bulk. RFQs ask for “SS60 emulsion drums, 200 L” or “anionic stable grade 60%”.

• Cationic bitumen emulsion

  Quote this: Cationic spray grade bitumen emulsion (CRS 60, CRS 65, CRS 70)

  Spray grades CRS 60, CRS 65 and CRS 70 for reseals and chip seals, with stable and premix grades. RFQs ask for “KRS65” or “CAT 65”.

• Prime coat

  Quote this: Cutback bitumen prime (MC-30, MC-10) and Emulsion-based penetrating prime (non-flammable)

  MC-30 and MC-10 cutback primes, and non-flammable emulsion primes, for granular bases before surfacing. RFQs ask for “prime coat” or “penetrating prime”.

• Fog spray and surface enrichment

  Quote this: Fog spray and enrichment spray emulsion

  SS60 diluted with water and sprayed lightly on aged seals and surfacings. RFQs ask for “diluted emulsion”, “fog spray” or “enrichment spray”.

• Asphalt rejuvenator

  Quote this: Asphalt rejuvenator (hydrocarbon-enriched, penetrating)

  A penetrating rejuvenator for aged, oxidised asphalt, in 200 L drums or bulk. RFQs ask for “rejuvenator drums” or “asphalt rejuvenation”.

• Bitumen binders

  Quote this: Penetration grade bitumen (70/100, 50/70)

  70/100 and 50/70 penetration grade bitumen, MC-3000 and polymer-modified binders for seals and asphalt. RFQs ask for “bitumen products” or “road bitumen”.

Gravel roads, slurry and stabilisation

• Slurry and Cape Seal slurry

  Quote this: Slurry seal and Cape Seal slurry materials

  SS60 for slurry seals and Cape Seal slurry, mixed by hand or by slurry machine, and modified slurry and micro-surfacing materials.

• Dust suppression for gravel roads

  Road dust suppressant sprayed on, or added to the water cart, for gravel roads, yards and access roads. RFQs ask for a “dust suppression chemical”.

• Road and soil stabilisers

  Chemical road and soil stabilisers, mixed into base, sub-base and gravel layers, so the material already on site can be used.
